i have all of this college tuition to pay, so if you could give me a couple of suggestions for a target i’d appreciate it (old target is usless now, plus this new bow i have is WAY more powerful). but if you think i should just man up if i want to practice and pay the money for a target, than tell me please. make-shit if you can though please, very low on cash, not poor, well i’ll put it to you this way. my last five meals were spaghetti, so yea you get the point….
thank you if you can give me some info, it’s all very helpful

I’m not sure how well they work with the really fast bows around now but I knew several folks who did most of their practice using bales of hay with a target made from a burlap sack on the front.
Question below covered it pretty well.
I’ve built a few targets on the cheap and have been shooting for 20+ years with a bow.
So, first – the new foam core targets are actually really quite nice. Cabela’s has one for less than $50. So, it might be worth going that route, depending on how much of your money is going to beer vs. spaghetti.
Second, if you want to build one yourself I (and a friend of mine) have done it two ways, both involve compressing a stack of media between some 2 x 4 and tie rods. First, you can do it with phone books. If you compress phone books edge on, you can stop about any bow. The paper is really grippy if compressed will stop the arrow cold. We just went around and collected phone books people were going to recycle to get the media and scavenged up some tie rod and 2 x 4′s from a local salvage yard for a few bucks. The other media that works well is corregated cardboard. Laid flat, and compressed hard, will stop arrows. Again, scavanged from people recycling the stuff.
Incidently, if you take a look at how the new target butts are made – it’s the same way just more refined.
