Bow for a beginning archer?

Sarah asked:

I’ve taken an interest in archery.. as a hobby, not for hunting. I’m wanting just a basic, traditional looking bow. I don’t care for those fancy looking ones that look almost like a gun. Something cheap also, since I’ve only used a bow once, and not very well.
Also, I’m quite small. 5’3 and tiny. Should I get a youth bow?

I haven’t asked much of a question I know, but if anyone knows anything about archery and bows I’d like some suggestion of what “kind” of bow I should be looking into.

And can a simple one be easily made myself? I’m a crafty person of sorts.
I’ll look into that, thanks!
Bows are pricy. D:

I’d suggest something in the line of the Internature Bullseye or the Mohegan Great Tree. They’re mostly made out of wood. Both are take down recurves, so they’re easy to transport and also versatile as the limbs are interchangeable. That way you can start with a light bow and when you get stronger, simply buy a pair of stronger limbs. You can get one of these for about $100
