I am not hunting with whatever I buy. I am planning on just shooting targets or having fun blasting water bottles, fun stuff like that.
I also want whichever of the two packs mmore of a punch.
I don’t want a weak crossbow or compound bow. For an example, I would like to have an 180lb pull crossbow just to have the power, or a really strong compound bow.
What should I buy that won’t be really expensive, 100$ is my limit.

Get a crossbow you can get a cheap one for under a $100 bucks i have a couple cheap ones myself they no-good for hunting dont shoot hard enough but for targets they fun
You might be able to find a good bow that is second hand for that price. I have never used a cross bow before, but I have a compound. Its awesome.
Brand new even those “toy” barnett crossbows cost about $200, this was way back around 8 years ago. Probably more now. The barnett has 150lbs draw and is of a recurve design. From what I remembered the bolts coming out of those were pretty slow.
Those 185lbs crossbows usually costs upwards of $1200.
Try browsing on ebay for used compounds. There are tons of them around. Becareful with the heavy ones though, you can injury yourself pulling those if you’re not properly trained.
I suggest checking on ebay. I bought a new bow on there that in store is $600 and I paid $180. I also would suggest a compound bow. I just find it more fun to shoot and also a crossbow can be very hard to cock. Also shooting a crossbow takes a alot of time. You can shoot about 3 arrows out of a compound for every 1 out of a crossbow. Also with todays new bows you can get a compound bow with not too heavy of a draw that can shoot as fast or faster than a 150+ pound crossbow.
Hope this helps
