Good crossbow for deer hunting?

ruckus1837 asked:

I’m looking for an affordable crossbow that has enough power to take down a large deer. I’ve never bow hunted before, so any help deciding is appreciated. I usually rifle hunt, but my school schedule doesn’t work out with rifle hunting season this year.
The distance would likely be less than 20 yards. My hunting plot is a old service road that’s grown up and VERY active as far as deer go.
I’ll be hunting in Allen County KY. I already checked the regs and it seems to be okay.
What about the Parker Buck-Buster 150 Crossbow Outfitter? It seems to be a good choice, and within my price range.

Don’t confuse Crossbows with Archery… it’s a rifle with a shaft instead of a bullet and anything above 100 pounds is plenty enough to take down a deer.

The only concern is distance and the shaft you will want to use for your tension.

The best crossbows are mad by Excalibur they are made in Kitchener Ontario Canada and are sold worldwide. They have taken everything from groundhogs to Elephant. I have split more arrows with mine than I can count and they are built to last a lifetime.

i agree with 310S excalibur crossbows are the best. 100 to a 150 pound should bag ya a trophy buck at least if ya see one. but dont get me wrong there are other good crossbows out there. your gonna pay though. you may find a cheap crossbow at walmart and it might do the trick. look around you’ll find won. and buy a good scope too you just might have a hunt of a lifetime good luck on your hunt for a crossbow and your deer

Where are you hunting? Many states don’t allow the hunting of deer with a crossbow.

My state is one of them. :-(

Make sure yours does before using it on deer. (a stiff fine sucks)

Good luck and good hunting -
