At an archery shop. We have one in Lakewood Colorado. You could look up the phone number on the Internet Yellow Pages. Sportsman’s Warehouse also has bows.
Go on the Matthews website or PSE or Hoyt. These sites will tell you how to buy their products, and probably provide a list of archery shops that represent them.
My daughter got her first compound bow when she was around 11, and it was a Hoyt.
We bought it through a local archery shop. You will need to know whether your child needs a left or right handed bow. You will have to determine which eye is dominant. Although my daughter is a rightie, she is left eye dominant and shoots left handed. You will also need to determine how much weight your child can pull comfortably.
Before she purchased her compound bows, she purchased a recurve through L.L. Bean, but that was at the store, not through a catalogue.

I have bought a few for my sons always at Cabelas. There are only a few to choose from but they are there. A good one to buy is the PSE Nova. My oldest son, now 16, passed his archery test on the first day of bow a few years ago and 2 hours later he shot his first deer with this bow. A great starter bow.
